French Quarter Festival & Satchmo SummerFest
French Quarter Festival fills the neighborhood with Louisiana music and local food—a lovely reason to spend the day wandering between performances. Satchmo SummerFest celebrates the life, music, and legacy of New Orleans native Louis Armstrong. Come for a favorite artist, stay for a new discovery, and make your way home to Dumaine.
Mardi Gras in the French Quarter
Carnival brings costumes, brass bands, and wonderfully inventive walking krewes to the streets. The Krewe de Jeanne d’Arc welcomes the season on January 6 with a French Quarter procession honoring Joan of Arc. The Krewe of Cork celebrates wine, food, and fun, while the Mystic Krewe of Barkus puts costumed dogs and their people in the spotlight.
For brass bands and irreverent satire, look up Krewe du Vieux, whose themes are intended for adults. Each celebration has its own personality—and our corner of Bourbon and Dumaine makes a memorable home base for discovering the Quarter during Mardi Gras.

Mardi Gras & festival season
French Quarter Festival fills the neighborhood with local music and food. Satchmo SummerFest celebrates Louis Armstrong at the New Orleans Jazz Museum. The French Market’s seasonal events offer more reasons to wander.
During Carnival, the major float parades roll outside the Quarter, while these streets welcome walking krewes, costumes, and neighborhood celebrations. Routes and schedules change, so consult official event information before your stay.
